1 Simple Addition to Your Acting Resume Makes it Powerful

All actors need to make sure their resume is in the right format, has the correct information and
easy to read. Here is one suggestion that will also help an acting resume stand out and be remembered.

Add a headshot to the upper right-hand corner of your resume. It can be the same photo that’s on the front of your resume, or if you have a different look, you can showcase that alternative headshot here. This allows casting directors, agents and directors to get another view of you. And, while they are scanning your resume, your face will stay in their mind a little longer.

Watch this video and learn a very simple fix to the issues that occur when trying to place a JPEG or PNG into a Word document.

If you have any resume tips or suggestions, share them here so we can learn from you.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDING A PHOTO TO YOUR RESUME IN WORD

Click On:
1. Insert

4. Click on the image
5. Grab the corners to size it correctly
6. Right mouse click on the image

Many actors are unfamiliar with training, corporate, and industrial films. But, they should know about them. They can be a great way to get on-camera training, have more experience working with fellow actors and in front of a camera. And, we get paid well for these types of videos.

Union actors will earn between $617-$903 for a full-day (8-hour) booking. The fee is dependent on how the video is being used (in-house or for the general public). An on-camera narrator will earn between $1,122-$1,641as an on-camera narrator. The Union fees change, so you can check the SAG-AFTRA website https://www.sagaftra.org/ to see the latest fees for industrial work. The payments will vary if the project or actors are non-union.

In this video, I share with you the different types of government agencies, companies, and associations that hire actors for these videos. You will also learn how to find this work and what takes place in these projects.

If you’re getting acting auditions, you need to understand something: you’ve already won. Most actors have no idea how competitive the casting submission process really is.

When casting directors post a breakdown, hundreds or thousands of actors (or agent) submit their headshots. The casting selection process is brutal – only a handful of actors get chosen for auditions, sometimes just 30 people out of hundreds or a few thousand. If casting directors choose you, you are literally one of the chosen few.

In this video, I break down why it is so hard to get chosen by casting directors, what really happens behind the scenes when they review submissions, and why getting called in is the real victory. This is the perspective shift every actor needs about the actor selection process.

Actors need to hear this truth about how casting really works.

Why being asked to re-record your lines isn’t always bad.

I don’t know if you have experienced this uncomfortable situation that is every actor’s nightmare, or at least it was for me. If this has never happened to you, congratulations. This video will help you be better prepared for this tough situation so you won’t freak out like I did.

I got a call from a TV production company saying they needed me to re-record my lines from a scene I had just shot a few days prior.

They said I needed to do ADR work (additional dialogue recording ) at their New York production studio. Getting that call sent my mind spinning. First, I started thinking that they must not have liked my read. Was my performance that terrible that they couldn’t use my original performance? And, adding to my stress, was the fact that this would be the first time I ever did ADR work.

In this quick tip, I share my paranoia-inducing ADR experience on a TV show and the reality check that followed. Learn why many ADR callbacks are simply technical, not performance-related, and how to manage that actor anxiety we can easily face.

This quick tip video is perfect for new actors navigating their first professional sets or experienced actors who still get those familiar butterflies.
