Actors can get work without an agent. But, it is always better for an actor to find representation with an agent to get work. An agent will:
- Hear about more job opportunities
- Know if the job is legitimate
- Negotiate the proper fees for actors
- Help make sure actors get paid
Agents prefer to have actors ready to be submitted and have faith that the actor can perform with great skill and work as a professional. The best way to have agents want to work with an actor is to make sure the actor has the right materials:
- An effective headshot and resume that industry professionals expect
- Having experience will also be very helpful.
- Sometimes, agents will represent an actor whom they think has potential
