Booking even one line on TV/film is much harder than you think.
I was sitting next to a stranger on a plane when he started talking about a TV show he’d been watching. He mentioned noticing an actor he personally knew on a TV show, but this friend only had a line or two — and the way he said it was completely dismissive. At some point, I told him I was a full-time working actor. What followed was a conversation that reminded me how little most people understand about what it actually takes to book even the smallest role in TV or film.
The reality is that depending on the role and the project, there can easily be hundreds — sometimes over a thousand — headshots and resumes submitted for a single role. And that’s just the beginning of the process.
