Why I Refused to Talk With Judi Dench On Set

So, I’m on the set of the feature film Philomena, thinking about my upcoming scene with Judi Dench. I see her, and decide to avoid her completely — not a single word, not even hello. Here’s why staying silent was the smartest thing I did on that set — and what it taught me about acting.

IN THIS VIDEO YOU WILL LEARN:

✅ Why I deliberately avoided talking to Judi Dench before we shot our scene together
✅ The thought behind my preparations before a scene is filmed
✅ What happened when the cameras finally rolled — and how she responded
✅ The lesson I still use on every set, over 40 years later

I LOVE HEARING FROM MY ACTING FAMILY ❤️ Have you ever done something specific with a scene partner before shooting to make your performance stronger — staying distant to protect a character, or getting to know them like I did with Ellen Burstyn? Share your experience on  with us the Channel so we can learn from you. I read and respond to every comment.
