I was in physical danger on a set. Here’s how I stayed professional and safe.
I was asked if I was comfortable working with a monkey for a national print ad campaign. The concept for this bank was “Get The Monkey Off Your Back”. I was incredibly excited because I love being around and especially working with animals. It ended up being a very dangerous situation after the Capuchin monkey, who was sitting on my shoulder, attacked the assistant photographer after only 7 shots were taken. About 20 minutes after the assistant was rushed to the emergency room, “Freddy” seemed to calm down. When the art director from the ad agency asked me to continue shooting, I knew this would never happen. As much as I liked Freddy, we were never going to work together again. I had to make a quick decision how to handle this difficult situation.
In this video, I share:
✅ Greater details of the incident
✅ How I professionally said NO without burning bridges
✅ Why protecting yourself on set is NON-NEGOTIABLE
