Why being asked to re-record your lines isn’t always bad.
I don’t know if you have experienced this uncomfortable situation that is every actor’s nightmare, or at least it was for me. If this has never happened to you, congratulations. This video will help you be better prepared for this tough situation so you won’t freak out like I did.
I got a call from a TV production company saying they needed me to re-record my lines from a scene I had just shot a few days prior.
They said I needed to do ADR work (additional dialogue recording ) at their New York production studio. Getting that call sent my mind spinning. First, I started thinking that they must not have liked my read. Was my performance that terrible that they couldn’t use my original performance? And, adding to my stress, was the fact that this would be the first time I ever did ADR work.
In this quick tip, I share my paranoia-inducing ADR experience on a TV show and the reality check that followed. Learn why many ADR callbacks are simply technical, not performance-related, and how to manage that actor anxiety we can easily face.
This quick tip video is perfect for new actors navigating their first professional sets or experienced actors who still get those familiar butterflies.
